ANNEMARIE ERB BARRETT, AEB ART
MY ART IS A PRAYER FOR PERSONAL AND COLLECTIVE TRANSFORMATION.
I am a watercolor artist who believes in the power of art to heal us, hold us, challenge us and transform us. I’ve made 600+ sales on Etsy, and my art has been featured in the Syracuse Cultural Workers Peace Calendar, Geez Magazine and the cover of Perspectives Magazine.
My art is for people who desire a tangible source of inspiration to renew their spirits as they navigate life in a world plagued by the isolation and injustice under global late stage capitalism.
My experience studying social justice movements, nonviolent social change, and the uses of rhetoric as a means to wield power have prepared me to incorporate the use of words and messages for social change into my artwork, while my personal healing journey, accompanied by over a decade of therapeutic work, has marked the evolution of my own personal transformation and the authentic reflections on healing that I represent in my poetry and art.
Being raised Catholic and formally educated in the United States and since 2013 moving my life to Bolivia, South America, where I have since become bilingual (English/Spanish) and a dual citizen of the United States and Bolivia, has given me the opportunity to learn every day from communal and indigenous cultures where whiteness, individualism and Christianity are decentered.
I now live with my partner and our young daughter in a rural area outside of Cochabamba, Bolivia and work internationally as a freelance artist on commissioned art projects while also creating and selling prints of my original watercolor art.
